Genie for the office of the CFO

Know where your numbers come from and where your dollars go.

Databricks Gold Partner since 2016

What we hear in the office of the CFO

Four questions that take too long to answer

The CFO demands both. The controller, FP&A, and FinOps carry the questions. Finance teams on Databricks have the data; the delay is in the path from the question to a number someone will stand behind. Pick the one costing your team the most time.

CFO

“Verify the number. Explain the spend.”

The CEO asks the CFO. The CFO asks the team. An unverified number stays out of the board deck. One that shows its work goes in.

Controller

“Why are there two numbers for the same metric?”

One metric, two owners, two definitions, both technically valid. The reconciliation happens in a spreadsheet the night before the board meeting.

Head of FP&A

“How quickly can I answer the board's follow-up?”

The first question is in the deck. The second one goes to an analyst, and the answer arrives days later.

FinOps lead

“Why did my spend jump?”

The bill arrives by workspace. Accountability lives by team. Nobody holds the mapping between the two.
The common thread: the answer is already in your data. Blueprint builds the path from the data to the answer.

Two promises, one platform

Answers in minutes. Spend you can attribute. Both on the Databricks you already run.

Genie gets finance from the question to a verifiable answer without an analyst in the loop. The Lakehouse Optimizer shows what every job, team, and answer costs, across Databricks and your cloud provider, and where the savings are. Together they deliver substantial reductions in Databricks and cloud spend, with visibility into both across the enterprise, built in three layers.

Definitions

Unity Catalog: each finance measure defined once, certified, and permissioned. The same number in the dashboard, in SQL, and from the agent. Two technically valid tables can give two answers to one question. Certified definitions remove the ambiguity before the agent sees it.

Answers

A Genie agent for finance: questions in plain language, every answer traced to its source tables, accuracy benchmarked before anyone relies on it. A number headed for the board can be verified rather than trusted.

Adoption

Finance leaders asking and following up without an analyst in the loop, measured by who asks and how often. The next department, then the operating model for adding agents without adding risk.
Each layer is a separate piece of work with its own scope, price, and deliverable. Start with whichever one fits where you are today. Buying one does not obligate you to the next.

A paper for the office of the CFO

Every Answer Traced: The CFO's Case for Genie

Natural language is becoming the way finance works with its data. The question for a CFO is not whether AI can answer; it is whether you can trust the answer. Two pages on what changes for the CFO, the controller, FP&A, and FinOps, what makes a Genie answer trustworthy, and where to start.

Jan 31, 2027

Genie One and Genie Agents usage is free through January 31, 2027.

Databricks states this in its Genie consumption guide. The compute behind each answer is still billed, which is why the Lakehouse Optimizer sits alongside Genie from the first question. A finance agent started now runs through the free window with its spend already attributed.

Before you book

Questions finance leaders ask first

No. They ask in plain language, the way they would ask an analyst: “Which cost centers drove the variance this month?” Genie turns the question into a query against the certified definitions in Unity Catalog, runs it, and returns the answer as a summary, a chart, and the SQL it used. Nobody writes SQL. The SQL is there for anyone who wants to verify the answer. Follow-up questions work the same way, in the same conversation, without going back to an analyst.

Yes, when the answer shows its work. Every Genie answer carries the query and the source tables behind it, and accuracy is benchmarked against a committed question set before the agent is opened to users. Every answer can be verified before it reaches the board. Genie is an informational tool, and the judgment stays with your team.

It is the same platform. The gap is between the data you have and a number a finance leader will stand behind without an analyst in the loop. Certified definitions in Unity Catalog close that gap, and the dashboard, the SQL, and the agent then agree.

Agreed on the diagnosis. The definitions are a decision your team makes. What Blueprint adds is the mechanism that makes one definition the only one the platform will answer with, so the decision holds after the meeting ends.

That is what the readiness assessment measures, in two weeks, at no cost. Most customers start with one finance domain that is ready and expand from there. If the catalog is not ready, the data plan is still yours, and it is the same plan you would need for any AI on your finance data.

Genie adds users and queries. The Lakehouse Optimizer attributes that spend to the job and the team, reports Genie’s own consumption alongside everything else, and shows where the savings are, by value. Through January 31, 2027, Databricks states that Genie One and Genie Agents usage is free; the compute behind each answer is still billed.

The assessment is free. The Accelerator Program has a defined scope and price, set with the readout in hand. Funding paths are discussed in the briefing, where we confirm whether your account qualifies.

The first step

Request a 30-minute finance briefing

Thirty minutes with the CFO or VP of Finance. We show the finance agent live on showcase data, walk the Executive Insights page, and confirm which of the four questions to fix first.
When the meeting is confirmed, we send a one-page worksheet: your ten most-asked finance questions. Bring it to the briefing. It becomes the question set the assessment scores against.

Alternative: start with the two-week assessment instead. Either way, the decision is small and the output is yours to keep.

Requests go to marketing@bpcs.com. We'll be in touch shortly with times.
