The representation of underrepresented communities in the tech industry remains alarmingly low. According to Google’s 2024 Diversity Annual Report, only 5.7% of new hires at Google in 2024 were Black, and 7.5% were Latinx (source: Google Diversity Annual Report 2024). Additionally, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in 2022, the unemployment rate for Black Americans was 6.1%, and for American Indians and Alaska Natives, it was 6.2%, compared to the national average of 3.6% (source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022).
This partnership aims to directly address these disparities by ensuring that diverse talent is given the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the innovation and growth of tech companies.
